[Speech] Science and Technology

[Speech] Science and Technology

A very pleasant morning to our English teacher Pn. Lee and my fellow classmates. Today, I would like to give a speech. The topic of my speech is “The Importance of Science and Technology in Our Lives”. Today, our lives are better than in the past. Do you know why? It is because of the science and technology. Nowadays, we have scientists, inventors, engineers and others in the world. They have made great contributions in our lives.

What are Science and technology? Science is the systematic study of nature for the purpose of understanding how it affects our lives and the environment while technology makes our lives easier and more comfortable. Science is important in our daily lives. The food we eat, the instruments we use for communication and the transport we take to move place to place are all related to science.

Moreover, technology has improved our lives. We use technology in transportation, communication, agriculture and industry. The advantage of using machines is machines can do our hard work without human. For example, tractors and harvesters enable farmers to save their time and speed up the harvest of crops. Besides, the invention of washing machine also help us to wash the clothes without human energy and save the time too.

Furthermore, the invention of vehicles is also good to our lives. Transportation today is faster, more comfortable and convenient than in the past. For example, aeroplanes help us to travel around the world in a few hours. Advancement in science makes the cars and motorcycles more powerful, faster and safer. Besides that, the invention of commuter trains and light rail transit can reduce the number of vehicles on the road and protect the environment from air pollution. Thus, it also helps to reduce the number of traffic jams.

On the other hand, the invention of communication tools such as telephones, facsimiles, mobile phones, televisions and computers help us to communicate with other people easier. The launching of communication satellites makes long distance communication possible. Nowadays, telephones and computers also help us to transfer money, pay bills and check our bank account balance through internet. The advancement of technology like internet helps us to communicate with our family and friends by using a program call Windows Live Messenger(MSN). It can strengthen the relationship with each other. Internet also helps us to solve problems. The pupils today surf internet to do their homework or project. This helps pupils to learn more knowledge.

Now, I would like to talk about the advancement in medicine. Today, the technology of medical field is more modern than past. Medicine conquered many diseases such as small pox, tuberculosis and polio. Medicine is also related to science and technology. Without science and technology, we cannot be treated. Therefore, it is so important to us. The modern equipment like X-ray machines enable doctors o perform accurate diagnoses and detect diseases early. These inventions help to save many lives and cure cancers or other diseases more quickly. It makes our lives more progressive in the future.

Likewise, scientists can also help to find new discoveries and let the people live more comfortably and conveniently. For example, the astronaut will go to the space and find some new discoveries.

In a nutshell, there is no doubt that technology is vital for our daily lives. We must treasure the technology which was invented. We must grateful to the people who invented the new technology. Their efforts and creativities are indeed contributions to the state of art society. We must look forward and strive every nerve to build our future with confidence. Thank you for all who listening my speech. Thank you.

HOW TO MAKE UR LIFE SUCCESSFUL

HOW TO MAKE UR LIFE SUCCESSFUL

What we call life is a very complex affair. it is not simply eating ,reproducing and finally dying. Every creature does these. But in the case of man he has to lead a highly complicated life. It is like going through a maze and coming out. He is an economic being  and a social animal. He has to earn, make a home, look after his people, attend to his obligations to society and the Government. So in order to be successful, in all these, he has to develop certain qualities

What do we mean by saying a man is successful? If in his occupation he can do satisfactorily both for himself and others then he is successful. He must be able to look after his people and bring up a good children. If he becomes a professional man like an engineer, doctor or even lawyer, making money should not be the only criterion ; he must also be able to satisfy his clients and be honest at it.

In order to be successful one should develop certain queslities. At fist he must realize his purpose; in other words what he would like to be. This is the crux of the problem, for the choice does not become to him. Parent decide it very often for them. Let us suppose he decides to be somebody in his life. Once having decided he must work for attaining certain standard in that line. Only hard work would make him fit for the job. It is rightly said that it is 5% inspiration and 95% persporation. One must deserve before desiring. One must remember one's education does not stop with the school or college. It is a life long process. Professional people must keep themselves up to date.

Then one must get on with others. In the chess board of life one may find himself in any position; it may be the all powerful queen or a simply a pawn. It must be remembered that given the chance, even a pawn can destroy a queen. This means in a complex society, everyone finds oneself in a particular position; there may some above or some below. One need not be favouring and flattering those above and be arrogant with those below. "What can i do for u" is the correct attitude and having done it go about your duty. In getting on with others sweet temperament is really an asset; then only others will like to transact with one. One must not be easily irritable nor give irritants to others. Then one must be reliable. One may be clever but if he is not reliable, he cannot achieve success in a great measure becauseother will have very little to do with him.

Another important quality that would make up for success is doing things then and there. Procrastination is the thief of time. Postponement of doing things means swelling of work for the next day. A small chink may be easily closed today but tomorrow it may be late. If we analyse the life of successful people we could easily see they have been through and never postponed doing things.

Still another quality is not to argue. The other may be really wrong. By pointing out that he has been wrong you are not going to improve matters on the other hand you can help him correct. Arguing not only takes away presious time but also causes irritations. Especially one's superior may not like situation something like this. "You may be right, sir," or " This is all right", but "what about our alternative " and so on.

One must be capabe of learning from experience. One must be able to learn form mistakes of others. Only when nations and individuals fail to learn from the past mistakes, they are ruined. History is replete with examples.

Wealth

Wealth

I am sure that the word ‘money’ is very familiar to everyone. Money is required to sustain life. Everyone knows no one can survive in this world without money. However, money by itself cannot bring happiness. We can buy many things if we have a lot of money. Nevertheless, we are still lack in many aspects that it will bring happiness such as true love and friendship. We cannot buy true love and friendship with money.

Health is more important than money. If we are healthy, we can carry out various activities such as travelling overseas and entertaining. The world is very beautiful. We must be healthy in order to explore it ourselves. A person with a lot of money but lying on the bed in the hospital does not have this opportunity. Without good health, we can’t enjoy ourselves by interacting with other people in the community. Therefore, it is also useless to be wealthy if we have a short life span. We are not able to pursue what we desire.

Money can’t buy true love by itself. Money can only buy you wives. It is true that many ladies are willing to be your wife if you are wealthy. Actually, they do not love you but they only love your money. True love comes from the heart of each individual. They will be loyal o you when you have a lot of money. On the other hand, they will leave you when you have no money.

Furthermore, a wealthy person without any friends will not bring happiness. We will become lonely in this situation. We do not have friends to talk, to discuss and share our problems. If we have friends, we can live in gaiety and joy. A wealthy person has friends too. However, he or she may not be loyal friend. This is because they are only interested in your money and status. For example, they will pretend that you are not their friend when you are not wealthy.

Without a good family bond, it is also useless if you are wealthy. You might get disappointed if you and your family are not close to each other. It is also sorrowful if your children do not respect you. Money can’t buy a close family bond. You will also be sad if one of the members in the family passed away. Money can’t help you to revive them.

In a conclusion, money cannot bring happiness by itself because many other aspects are required. You need to be healthy in order to explore the world. A close family bond, true love and friendship are required too.

Superstition

Superstition

Have you ever seen a passing lady back away at the sight of a black cat? Or perhaps a man who dreaded his coming birthday on Friday the thirteenth? Have you ever wondered why your friends say it’s bad luck to open the umbrella inside a house? They are of course, examples of the effect of various superstitions in our daily lives.

Superstitions, little do we know influences the lives of many people around us. Most people always take time to read the omens’ of good or bad luck before carrying out an action; especially on important days. Though superstition; by dictionary definition, is a statement or belief that makes no sense at all, people don’t seem to care about it and follow them in an almost religious manner. The excuse given is that it is what they have always done. Here, superstition is altered and transformed
into a sort of tradition that is passed down from generation to generation. Without anyone pausing to ponder the true idiocy behind these superstitions.

To our modern eye, superstitions are illogical and most definitely irrational, but hundreds of years ago, when these superstitions first came about, there was a kind of logic behind these creation, if a twisted one at that.

Take for example, a popular belief that it is unlucky to walk under a ladder. It all started when a Christian woke up one morning to look out his window and saw a ladder leaning against his wall. He then realized with a snock, that the leaning ladder formed a triangle with a wall and the ground. And any good Christians know, to walk through a triangle was to violate the Holy Trinity, thus naming yourself in league with the devil. So the word was spread and anyone caught walking under the ladder would persecute and severely punished. Indeed, to walk under a ladder was considered a serious offense at that time.

Morning on, hore you ever had anyone say ‘God bless you’ or the shortened form ‘bless you’ when you sneezed? Although nowadays it is considered good manner to do so, it does in fact carry a very different meaning. Two, actually, because through the passage of time, this phrase has acquired two very different definitions. To begin with, sneezing in front of Christian in the 1500’s would received a quick ‘God bless you’, a part on the back and a word of congratulations. Sneeze years later, and his eyes would widen in horror, screaming ‘God bless you’ on the top of his lungs, he would take his heels and leave the area at a mile a minute.

The reasoning behind these conflicting opinions is because in the sixteenth century, it was a customary to congratulate the sneezer as he expelling evil from his body. Letter on, when the plague took hold of Europe, sneezing was a sure a sign that you were going to die. Realizing this, the Pope wisely passed law. Since a person infected with the plague was incurable by human means, to survive. Understandably, all Romans were required to bless the sneezer in hopes of preventing or at least delaying the one major side-effect of mortality.

‘Black cats are evil’ is another favorite superstition. But why cats or more specifically, why black cats? To tell the truth it all begin in ancient Egypt where the goddess Bast was believed to be a female black cat. But when Christianity took up residence in Egypt, the Christian priests departed on a missions to rid the land of all traces of other religions. With a battalion of ignorant followers, they destroyed all black cats in sight, convinced that they were actually evil demons. Incidentally, kindly old ladies also shared the same fate as they were believed to be witches, practitioners of black magic.

The list doesn’t end here, in top place, is Friday the thirteenth, the scariest superstition of all. It is so frightening that it will send believers running to Charm shops to buy an assortment of items in hopes of warding off bad luck. Friday and thirteen, when brought together is indeed deadly combination. On a Friday, Adam And Eve were expelled from the Garden of Eden; Noah’s flood too started on a Friday. B people on the other hand, 12 witches and devil, are always present at satanic ceremonies. Furthermore, the first person to rise from or the last person to sit at a table of thirteen shall be the first to die. So strong is the influence of this particular day that people fear even to mention the day on that date, as to say ‘Friday the thirteenth’ was to bring bad luck and onto oneself.

‘Breaking a mirror’ too, is widely known superstition. Believed to curse the breaker with seven years of bad luck; believers were careful not to chip off even a corner. The origin of this superstition is intertwined with. The belief
that your reflection a window
to your soul. In the olden days, gazing pods were common in most people’s backyards enable the owners to get frequent glimpses of his inner self. Incidentally, to throw a stone at someone’s reflection was continued on to the gazing pool’s modern cousin, the mirror which follows the some principle.

There are countless other superstitions; from knock on to wood to hold your breath while passing a graveyard, to don’t spill the salt during dinner. Whether or not there is any truth behind these superstitions is a matter of opinion and therefore, mere speculation. While scientists and the majority of human race that the whole things is arrant nonsense, stories made up to scare children; true believers are steadfast in their belief that to disregard superstitions to play a fire. And lastly, a little something to chew on: since most superstitions began with someone’s actions or certain occurrences; if Cochraneans were to spread a rumour that it is bad luck to cane a student, try and imagine what life would be like a hundred years from now.

Happiness

HAPPINESS

Happiness is owning a bungalow, a Mercedes Benz or a collecting of branded clothes. This is the idea of many if we ask them what is happiness. Do you agree with them? I agree that we can be happy by living a luxurious life but remember money by itself cannot bring happiness. Happiness means feeling or expressing pleasure or contentment. This can be attained through many means.

A healthy lifestyle will pave way towards happiness. A healthy person will lead a happier life compared to a person who is ill. An invalid may be a millionaire but he may not have the chance to consume delicious delicacies.

Education is the key to success. Knowledge cannot be obtained by money. An educated and knowledgeable person will always be honoured and respected wherever they are. Wealthy parents tend to spend a large amount of money to educate their children but not all children prosper in their education.

Harmony and peace are the spine in ones life. Harmony and peace can be achieved by having a good attitude, rational thinking and consideration towards others. Similarly, world wide problems can also be solved with the same consideration and rational thinking by people in authority. This clearly proves that money cannot buy these kinds of positive traits.

The above said aspects of happiness will only be meaningful if it is shared with others, namely family and friends. Sincere friends will not take into account of our financial status. Furthermore, family members do not keep monetary gains in their mind to assist their own family members. Assistance is given to another family member out of love and affection.

In conclusion, it is obvious that money by itself cannot fall into place for a man’s happy living. Although money is essential in our daily lives but that is not the criteria for a peaceful and harmonious living. Generally, if everybody observes the fact that money by itself cannot bring happiness, there will be less problems in our daily lives.

A Promise

A Promise

It plays over and over again in my mind, like something sort of horrible movie. I promised to stay with her forever. Never to leave her again. I made this promise because I remember the day when she broke her left leg and it was my entire fault. If only I didn’t leave her behind. I will never forget the accident that caused my sister to walk limply for the rest of her life. It happened when my sister and I were eleven.

Near our old house lies the most beautiful and sacred place in the world. It was a forest. This forest was my and my sister’s sanctuary. Everyday after school, we would go there together. I remember clearly what happened on that day.

When we arrived, my sister, Emma, immediately sat by the river. She loved to sit by the river, admiring the surrounding as she pondered on her own thoughts. As for me, I wanted adventure. Nearby, I spotted a path in the woods that I had never explored before. The problem was… I hated going alone and the only person nearby was Emma.

“Emma, there is a new path in the woods. How about exploring it together?” I asked her.
“No. I want to sit here,” Emma replied softly and reluctantly. Emma has been shy and afraid of exploring places. A plan then came into my mind.
“The new path might lead us to a field full of butterflies. I saw a few went that way.” I knew that my sister loved butterflies. I knew she couldn’t resist my offer. Just as I expected, Emma got up to follow me. As I wanted to know what was down the path, I didn’t notice that I had left my sister behind.
“Eve, wait!” I heard her yell. I didn’t stop running. Why didn’t I wait for her? If only I waited for her…
“Wait, Eve! Don’t leave me behind! Please!”

That was when I heard sound that haunted me forever. An early piercing scream and then a series of sickening cracks. I was too afraid. I turned and walked slowly to the side of a low cliff. I then realized my worst fear. Down the cliff ledge, my sister was lying there in a strange position. If only I had waited, maybe this would never have happened.

I ran home to get for help. My parents immediately sent Emma to the nearest hospital. It took her a long time to wake up. When she finally regained consciousness, I wrapped my arms around her and cried onto her shoulder. I was glad that she was all right. The doctor said that Emma had broken her left leg very seriously. She will be limping for the rest of her life. I couldn’t stop blaming myself.

“Emma. I am sorry. I promised that I’ll never leave you again,” I said.
“Eve, one day, we’ll get married and then we will live and die separately. We can never be together forever,” she said in a disappointed tone.
“Please promise me that we’ll always be together. Please…” I pleaded. My sister looked at me for a moment, before giving me her answer.
“I promise.”

Qualities of a Friend

QUALITIES OF A FRIEND

Everyday we meet people. Many of them become instant acquaintances and most acquaintances bloom into friendship. Often this transition period occurs gradually. Friends come into ours lives and go. Few stay a while longer and fewer still leave footprints in our hearts and the sands of time.

Who is a friend and what are the qualities a friend should possess? The definition of a friend and friendship varies with each individual. For me, a good friend is someone who understands me, accepts me for what I am and at the same time inspires me to do the best. At a personal level, a true friend should not give up on me, should always forgive my mistakes and never judge me by actions as sometimes my actions may be rash and inconsiderate.

We live in a very competitive world. Most of us are caught up in the rat race of paper chase, mounting work pressure and demanding family commitments take a toll on our time and energy. Consequently most of us experience mood swings due to high expectations placed upon us. It is during times like these, when we are burdened with responsibilities and life seems to be an endless uphill struggle,
that we seek the comforting words of a friend; a friend who urges you to pick up the pieces and move on. A good friend is always there to lend a helping hand or to lend us a shoulder to cry on.

At the same time, a friend should be trustworthy and loyal. When friends trust us with secrets, we should never betray their confidence. No one can confide in someone whom he cannot trust to keep his secrets.

True friendship is demanding. It requires loyalty, trust, empathy, support and understanding. However, one should never expect such virtues in a friend unless he is willing to offer these virtues in return. In other words, one must be a friend to have a friend.

It may be impossible to find all these virtues in a single friend. However, should I come across such a friend; I shall treasure our friendship for life. As I reminisce about the good times I have shared with the best of my friends, the words of William Shakespeare keeps ringing in my ears.

‘The friends thou has, and their adoption tired, Grapple them to thy soul with hoops of steel.”

Yes, friendship that has stood the test of time should be most revered and happy is the man who is blessed with such a friend.

Money by itself surely cannot bring happiness

Money by itself surely cannot bring happiness.

“Look at your health, if you have it, praise God and value it next to the good conscience; for health is the second blessing we mortals are capable of, a blessing that money cannot buy.”
-Izaak Walton.

These are words of wisdom none would question their validity. The choice between money and health is a favourite topic people like to argue about, however the argument pointless as in the end, people will think that health is paramount compared to money.

The twentienth century we are living in has been labeled in various ways – the age of affluence, the age of illusion, the age of atrocity and so on but the age of greed is perhaps as a good a label as any other. There is no denying the value of money and the pleasure of enjoying it, however there are basic issues involved. If money can be obtained only after a huge amount of sacrifice, is that worth it? Is it really necessary for human being to go on increasing their needs and temporary pleasures? Or would it be wiser to impose one’s needs? People get so busy in getting money that they forget how to enjoy it!

Engaged in getting money, man has no time for his family or his friends and even for his health. On the other hand, the pursuit of money may threaten both his physical and spiritual health. Besides that, his desire for power and money may lead him to go astray hence the long-time enigma of how much evil is justified to get the good is solved

Let’s take on an example, this example is actually one of the parables found in the Bible, it begins like this: Now a man came up to Jesus and asked. “Teacher, what good thing must I do to get eternal life?” Then Jesus replied, “Do not murder, do not steal, do not commit adultery, honour your father and mother and love your neighbour as well as yourself.” “I have kept this since I was young!” said the man. Without any hesitation, Jesus said again “If you want to be perfect, sell your belongings and give them to the poor heard this, he went away sadly because he had great wealth.

The figurative meaning of this parable is money is not the most important thing in the world and it can’t bring happiness by itself. In the story, the young man cannot let go of his wealth because he still has greediness in his blood which is one on the most deadly sins, therefore it is true to say that it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God.

If one has to choose, definitely health is better than wealth. A healthy person can look after not only himself but also others. In contrary, an ailing person is a drain on other. Well, he can buy medicines, pay a visit to a health resort or long hospitalization but it can neither buy health nor happiness. Ask a rich man who has been through along illness, will he be happy. He will answer “no” because he has been attacked by viruses which make him suffer each day.

Money is the value of the man-made world-not of the world God created while happiness comes from the inner heart of human, for instance, the poor who lived in a small hut, eating sweet potatoes everyday with other family members maybe happier than a rich man who lives in a mansion, eating abalone’s but lives alone. In this case, the element which exist the happiness is love not money. In conclusion, money by itself surely never brings happiness to anyone.

Love Conquers All

Love Conquers All

Love is an affection felt for a special person that comes from a true heart. I believe whole-heartedly that love conquers all. Love cannot be compared with wealth or even earthly things in which the saying “Money can’t buy love’ is very true. Love can be shared among spouses, friends, family members and even can be shown through patriotism. Love is forgiving as love means never having to say you’re sorry. Besides that, love is also an act of unselfishness whereby we learnt to share both our happiness and blues with that someone you love. With the existence of love, man can be joyous.

At times, love cannot be portrayed by words only but also shown by treating that someone with care and patience. Love can build up a strong bond in one’s relationship with another. As such, a harmonious atmosphere can be formed. Consequently, conflicts between two particular parties can be avoided. Love can also stop war. Through love, men learn to be kind, caring, patient and other moral values can be instilled in them too. One’s life will be happier if love is around him. What’s the use of getting all the riches in the world but is lacking of love? This is indeed wealthtrue love. Love overcomes hatred which is the root to crimes such as killing. This proves that love conquers violence. We know for a fact that there’s a number of crime such as murder committed by their own relatives and according to the police’s investigations, their motives are to look for revenge, jealousy and so on. Many would wonder what factor that leads to such act. This tragic phenomenon can be avoided if love exists.

One who has love will not hurt someone else just for the pleasure of it. The nature and animals will not be mistreated by men if they learn to love. Therefore, the ecosystem can be maintained. Pollutions such as water pollution, air pollution and so on that may contribute in the spreading of bacteria and viruses which can deteriorate our health can be put a stop if we love the environment. Love can also free us from sufferings. For example, if one loves himself, he will not get involve in any unhealthy lifestyles such as clubbing. Thus, he will not fall into temptations that can lead to death. In other words, he has better tomorrow.

Social issues among youths will not arise if they are taught to love and being loved by their parents. With their parents’ attention and passion towards them, they will be drawn far away from social-ills activities. Besides that, child-abuse cases will also eventually decreases if one has love. The world will be a happier place to live if we love one another. This can be shown when one helps the victims of the natural phenomenon such as the tsunami that hit our country recently. With the love from the public, the victims able to stand up and continue their lives in no time. The less-fortunate, the handicaps and others are being encouraged to carry in their lives by the love from society. Patient diagnosed with a kidney failure is given a chance to live by a doctor who has love.

It is no doubt that love conquers all. Everything we do will be a success if we do it with love and passion. So, start a life filled with love and do not hesitate to show love to others.

Love

LOVE

Love! Do you believe in love? Do you know what the meaning behind ‘Love’ is? Do you know how many people ‘die’ because of love? Love cannot be bought by money, it is priceless. Love is some feeling, expression, fondness from our heart to someone.

Love, I love you, I am falling with.... and many more. Do you hear this before? Of course even three years old children also will know it. Since we born in to this world in the state of nature, our parents took care of us with full of love by educate us how to speak, how to stand, how to write....., even when we falling down or sick, they will quickly send us to the clinic. Although there are also some of the children born with silver spoon in their mouth with good education which family will send their children to overseas to sit for professional courses but many of the parents also hope their children will be a successful person by assiduous to children academic and work hard for their children because chidren are important to them.

After finish schooling, everyone will seek for their life partner. In love letter or even when they appraised their feeling to person that they like, it must have the words love to show how they care to the person. After married, the feeling of love will make them to work hard to buy a car, houses affort in children education, food, clothes and many more. A lot of pressure from office and home surrounding them until quarrel with wife or husband but after they quarrel, they will forgive each other because they love each other by knewing what problem they facing and solve it together. Love teach us a lot of things for example how to manage our stress, financial problem, communication and the most important is learn how to believe and support each other to bring out family.

Besides that, love not only between parents to children or their live partner. It also occurs between teachers and student. The love of teachers to student is from the caring, supportive of the teacher on behalf of their duty to educate student and bring out high mental calibre to society and country. Love from teachers is shown when the teacher often care not only their student academic but also the school activities like club and society because a best student must not only be good in academic but have to learn about leadership and many knowledge which we can not get from the text book. Sometimes teacher also will give a lot of homework or extra classes to those weak students and because of love, some of the teachers will also volunteer to pay school fees for those poor student without any pay back.

Love also brings peace to the world for tsunami that happen at the end year of 2004 which brings more than 200 thousand of people die. Lot of support come from others country to the place which need help like Indonesia and Sri Lanka. Many proffesionals like army, doctor volunteer and nurse around the world also came for help without asking any pay back. Besides that, they also donate a lot of things like medical, clothes, food fresh water, transport, money and also caring the whole world to victim of tsunami.

In conclusion, love conquers all because it cannot be defray or buy from anywhere. With love, the world will be peaceful without any war.

Jealousy

Jealousy

What is jealousy? Jealousy is a disposition in which we feel angry or unhappy because we do not posses something that someone possesses or because someone we like or love shows interest in someone else. Jealousy is an undesirable emotion that can lead to a lot of unhappiness and even murder.

Jealousy over material possessions is quite common amongst people -young and old. Among youths, it can be simple things like an expensive pencil pouch, branded garments and flashy cars. They are the symbols of status, wealth and style and are much desired by youths. As a result, they are also the provocations of jealousy. The few who can afford them tend to be ostentatious while the many cannot afford them feel jealous. These feelings of jealousy can result in arguments, quarrels and even fights.

The effects of jealousy can be harmful. Let us deal with jealousy among youths over material things like expensive possessions and designer garments. It is a fact of life that this is a materialistic world and youths with expensive possessions tend to show off so as to attract groovy company. It is a fact that some are born lucky. So, it is better for those who are less lucky not to be jealous of the lucky ones. If they are jealous of others, they will only make themselves unhappy and in the process, become unsociable themselves. They tend to compare and complain too much and too often. They will make themselves very unpleasant company in the presence of others and even their bosom buddies will gradually shy away from them.

How can adolescents like us rid ourselves of feelings of jealousy? Among our friends and schoolmates, there are those who are wealthy and brainy. There are those who possess status symbols and attain stellar academic grades. We should open up ourselves and accept the reality of circumstances. Be modest. Have a good and sincere word of compliment for whatever is good and amazing. Do not wrap ourselves up in petty jealousies. That way, we will be happier with ourselves and feel comfortable in the company of friends.

Jealousy is an insidious disposition. It is a natural streak in many of us and it can gradually harm our personality.
